The Bushnell Trophy XLT
The Bushnell Trophy XLT series is a value hunting scope line whose price and quality fall below their high end Elite series, but above the entry level Banner series. Options is the first word that comes to mind when describing the Bushnell Trophy scope line. These Bushnell rifle scopes can be had in a wide variety of configurations and can be used on numerous different types of firearms. Below is a brief overview of some of the options that are available in this scope line.
The Trophy XLT rifle scopes come in a wide variety of magnification and objective size combinations. The smallest scope in the lineup is a 1.75-4x32mm while the largest is a 6-18x50mm. The higher magnification models in this series are equipped with adjustable objectives for correcting parallax.
Matte black, gloss black, silver, and camo finishes are all available in the XLT series. Camouflage models are finished with a Realtree AP pattern, and are available on two models: a 1.75-4x32, and a 3-9x40. There is also a silver finish available on one 3-9x40 model as well as on a 2-6x32 model. Matte black finishes makes up the remainder of the series with the exception of a single 3-9x40 model offered in gloss black.
There are a large variety of specialty reticles available on the Bushnell Trophy XLT rifle scopes. Below is a quick rundown of the Bushnell reticles available as well as their use.
DOA 600 – Centerfire Holdover Reticle
DOA 250 – Muzzleloader Holdover Reticle
DOA 200 – Shotgun Holdover Reticle
DOA Crossbow – Crossbow Holdover Reticle
Circle X – Duplex with Circle Shotgun Reticle
Mil-Dot – Centerfire Holdover Reticle
Multi-X – Standard Style Duplex Reticle
Bushnell also makes a couple illuminated models in this line up for better crosshair to target contrast in low light situations.
Trophy XLT scopes are made on a one piece 1” main tube (illuminated models use 30mm main tube) and have fully multi coated lenses for increased light transmission. These riflescopes make windage and elevation adjustments in 1/4 MOA increments and are nitrogen purged for waterproofing. Finally, these Bushnell scopes come with a set of Butler Creek scope covers to protect and keep the lenses clean when the optic is not in use.
Many manufactures offer a budget line of scopes which basically consist of a 3-9x40mm model with a duplex reticle and black matte finish. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing as those scopes often offer a lot of optic for the money; however, if you want a different reticle, finish, or magnification option you are out of luck. Also, most scope lines (budget or not) cater almost exclusively to the centerfire rifle market, again leaving many hunters that use a different style of firearm without options. The Bushnell XLT scopes series does a good job of offering something for everybody with numerous configurations, reticles, and finishes that can be used on a wide variety of different firearms.
